1957 Zundapp KS601 Images - A Look At My Humble Shop
Another look at the Zündapp KS 601 engine.

May as well have a look at the rest of the place as long as you're here. This picture is from around 1990, so things have changed a bit. In the foreground, with the Zundapp KS601 just behind them, are a Honda XR600 and CR480. To the right is my beloved '80 Mercedes 300SD, sheltering beneath it's cover from Michigan's really bad winter salt habit. It has now got well over 300,000 on it and still going strong. Ran it out through the New England states once again last fall without a qualm.

Serving as a CD holder through the winter is my '84 V65 Sabre. The other one, an '85, is just visible at the left edge, with the dumpy level tripod leaning against the turn signal? These bikes have been everywhere in the country a number of times, including Alaska (once), and have more than 260,000 miles and climbing between the two of them. I think they could haul me around Wyoming, Montana, and Washington while I slept on the back (in fact they have, briefly, upon occasion).
My Zündapp KS 601's fellow garage denizens.
My glorious work shop with a Zundapp KS601 in there somewhere.
A very busy view of my work shop/hangout.
The Zündapp KS 601 is lost in the clutter.
The pictures, again, are pretty dated. The dirt bikes have since moved up front to the smallest apartment of three. Can't bring myself to rent it because then where would I put all my crap? If you think that made more room think again. Now, in addition to everything else there's a good tight Bridgeport mill, a Hardinge HLV-BK lathe purchased from an aerospace company (not the one I work for) that kept it in perfect shape.
Everyone needs a Steptoe shaper to work on their Zündapp KS 601.
To further aid in super important Zundapp KS601 and Dodge Power Wagon work, I have also picked up a 15 ton Atlas arbor press and a fabulous 14" Steptoe shaper (right about where the camera is for this picture), both from the now vanished Western Machine Tool Works in Holland. I know that's got you breathing heavy. The tale of these acquisitions is another story, maybe for another page on this site someday. Did I mention the 50 Hp Ingersol-Rand Imperial horizontal twin double acting two stage compressor from the same incredible building (no, not in the garage)? Well. Another day.

Everyone needs a 50 Hp compressor to work on their Zündapp KS 601 too.
